World Perspective

Many Americans have been asking how anyone could hate us so much that they would even consider such acts of terrorism against the U.S. The mainstream american news and education system have been woefully inadequate at educating the american public about the world. Most americans know nothing about the atrocities that happen all over the world. They know nothing of the state of life in Africa, Afghanistan, China, or even our own inner-cities. They don't understand why our own children kill their peers in our schools or why terrorists would want to harm any american. Many americans have never left the United States and seen other countries, many have never traveled beyond their own state or county. Americans are simply, for the greater part, ignorant of the world around them that their government so often meddles in. The terrorists that have attacked the United States were created by and often trained and armed by the U.S. government. In a very real sense the american government has brought this upon the american people.

The wonderful thing about a democracy is it allows for and in order to function requires public debate. If the WTC attack can do any good, it will be to spur public debate on the policies of the american government that have created these terrorists. I believe that once the public understands that the actions of the United States government will create more terrorists, that the public will demand the government to change. This change will enable a better world for the entire human race, not to just the few wealthy citizens of the world. When I say wealthy I ask the reader to consider that over half of the world population lives on less than $2 a day. Even the poorest americans are among the wealthiest citizens of the world. In order for us to solve our problems, we have to consider where america fits into the rest of the world. We can not bury our heads in the sand and not expect something like this to happen again. And bombing Afghanistan is only going to create more problems for the world. Educate yourself and others, understand what the real problems are and that these attacks are only symptoms of a injured world and race.

"If a Nation expects to be ignorant and free in a state of civilization, it expects what never was and never will be... if we are to guard against ignorance and remain free, it is the responsibility of every American to be informed."
-- Thomas Jefferson
